Eminem Drops a Fresh Freestyle

Detroit-born rapper Eminem dropped a freestyle on Friday a month after the release of the movie "BODIED" produced by Eminem himself. Eminem said on twitter:
"The release of BODIED has me feeling nostalgic about battle rap so I headed down to my old stomping grounds"
referring to the location where the freestyle video was shot. The video entitled "Kick Off", spanning well over 10 minutes, shows the rapper at The Shelter at St.Andrew's in his home town of Detroit, spitting constant lyrics throughout. This impressive feat left almost three million viewers on YouTube in awe at the raw talent possessed by the 46-year-old rapper, who has been prominent in the rap scene since the release of his first album in 1996. Eminem earned himself the title of "Rap God" after the release of a song under the same name in 2013.

Eminem's collaboration on the sound-track of the film came as a result of his recent return to rap, releasing the album "Revival" in 2017 after a 6 year recession from the rap scene. Since then, Em dropped a surprise album in 2018 called "Kamikaze", as well as the diss-track "KILLSHOT" aimed at rapper Machine Gun Kelly. "BODIED" was released on the 2 of November, and the plot relates closely to Eminem's experiences as a young rapper starting off in the rap game.

Relating to the the topic of freestyle rapping, Eminem made a name for himself in his early days through battle rapping in the underground rap scene present in Michigan, Detroit. The skill of freestyle requires the rapper to come up with verses on the spot, with no pre-planned material. The strength of the rapper's talent depended on the speed, the rhyme scheme and the content. Although freestyle rap is oftentimes unappreciated, it is in situations like these where rappers would continuously rap for straight minutes that impresses the avid rap fans.

Sincerely,
